FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I START THE LICENSING PROCESS?

Contact us at licensing@einerleipublishing.com for a perusal document. Within 1-2 business days you will receive access to a digital libretto/vocal score to review and see if our show is the right fit for your organization. In the meantime, fill out and submit our licensing application form. We will review your application and be in touch ASAP.  

I PURCHASED A SCORE: DOESN'T THAT MEAN I CAN PERFORM IT?

If you are interested in performing one of our works, you must license that work. If you are performing a single piece, those rights are available through ASCAP. Don’t worry – if you’re a student and performing it at school, your school probably already has an established relationship and reports to ASCAP and BMI regularly. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO LICENSE A SHOW?

Like other licensing companies, we consider many factors in determining the cost to your organization. Factors can include the for-profit or non-profit status of the organization, the number of performances, the number of audience seats in the venue, and the price of tickets. After you submit your licensing application form, we will calculate the cost for your organization. Additionally, we have a referral program that can help save you money on your licensing fees!

HOW ABOUT LICENSING AN EXCERPT, LIKE A SCENE FOR OPERA WORKSHOP?

If you are a non-profit educational organization, we offer licensing of excerpts that are a total of 15 minutes or less free of charge, provided you are not charging admission to the performance. You must contact us first for written permission and purchase the appropriate number of libretto/vocal scores. Permissions for songs in the context of excerpts or alone are managed through ASCAP.

HOW DO I MARKET OUR PERFORMANCES?

We understand that not all organizations licensing shows have a marketing team. When you license one of our shows, we provide you with poster and flier templates, and high-quality digital images of the show logos. Use them on your website and other marketing materials. We will also provide a press release template so you can insert your specific information and send it to your local media!

HOW MUCH ARE THE ORCHESTRA PARTS AND OTHER MATERIALS?

Don’t worry, we don’t nickel-and-dime you. The orchestra parts, sound FX and all of your marketing materials are included in your licensing fee. Your only expenses will be the licensing fee and the cost of the libretti/vocal scores for your cast, crew and creative team. When you license with us, your scores are 20% off list price. And if you participate in our referral program, you can save 20% on your licensing fee!

I'M A POTENTIAL AUTHOR - CAN I SUBMIT A PROPOSAL FOR REVIEW?

Absolutely! We are interested in hearing your ideas about a pedagogical book or lyric theatre work that is consistent with our mission. Author submissions must include concept for the work or book and writing sample. Email us to start the discussion, and we’ll be in touch!

CAN WE GET T-SHIRTS?

Our students love t-shirts, too! It provides walking advertisement for the show, and gives them a souvenir after it’s over. If you want to order logo t-shirts for your team, contact us for our logo t-shirt order form and we’ll get you hooked up!

The Pirates of Pinafore satirizes Gilbert and Sullivan in a way that elicits both appreciation for their original works and delights in the parody. It brought me great joy performing in it. It’s really quite fun!”
